Robert Novak Journalism Fellowship Program

Robert Novak, a great American Journalist and a Phillips Foundation founding trustee, provided the inspiration to award fellowships to print and online journalists who share our mission to advance constitutional principles, a democratic society and a vibrant free enterprise system. Print and online journalists with less than ten years of professional experience are eligible to apply. The Phillips Foundation awards $50,000 full-time and $25,000 part-time fellowships.

Each spring, The Phillips Foundation hosts an awards dinner at the National Press Club in Washington to introduce the winners of our Robert Novak Journalism Fellowships and our Lifetime Achievement Award. As a founding trustee of The Phillips Foundation, Bob Novak provided the inspiration for our Journalism Fellowship program, which was named in his honor following his passing in 2009. Bob’s long and distinguished career serves as a model for today’s young journalists.

Our 19^th Annual Novak Fellowship Awards dinner was held on Tuesday May 8. We are pleased to announce that Paul A. Gigot was honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award. Pat Sajak served as Honorary Dinner Chairman. The awards dinner brings together prominent journalists and guests in a warm, collegial setting to celebrate the best in American journalism.
